Pcs Unplugged

Logitech's Cordless Desktop ($219) may just bridge the generation gap between Web-surfing easy riders and the wrinkly recliner-rocker set. It's a no-wires combo that combines a comfy cordless mouse with a sleek and equally untethered keyboard (with ergonomic palm rest). A small box plugs into the mouse and keyboard ports on your PC, replacing those long ever-tangled cables with a pulsed stream of low-power radio signals. The range is about two metres. It's the ideal solution for large and cluttered desks - the radio signals can cut through piles of paper, unlike infrared light beams used by other cordless devices - as well as those seeking a more laid-back approach to computing.

You also get Logitech's HyperJump mouse software for one-click access to eight common Windows commands to even further minimise mousing around the screen. In fact, why move at all? To paraphrase '60s icon Timothy Leary, you can dial up, log on and drop out.
